The self aligning split design allows for easy bearing replacement without having to remove the shaft. Metallic shafts do not come into direct contact with the bearing material as a thick sleeve of non metallic material is mounted on the shaft ends, this extends service by creating low friction contact surfaces between the shaft and bearings.
